Our Philosophy Avon Nursery School's philosophy can be summed up by a quote from William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), the Irish poet and winner of the 1923 Nobel prize: "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." - William Butler Yeats Our Mission The mission of Avon Nursery School at Avon Congregational Church is to instill a
passion for learning and a strong moral foundation in young children. Avon Nursery School offers the highest
quality early childhood education for 3 to 5 year olds. This is accomplished by
actively following rigorous NAEYC standards, by using a challenging and
creative hands-on / minds-on curriculum, and by providing a safe and loving
place where peace, friendship, empathy and tolerance can be practiced.
Our Belief Statement We believe that learning is a lifelong adventure.
We believe in facing each day with minds open to knowledge and hearts open to love.
We believe in the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore, to create and to imagine.
We believe that success means doing our best, being our best and feeling proud of our effort.
We believe that every one of us has special talents, and that the talents of each of us, help all of us.
We believe in ourselves, in each other and in God whom we thank for the blessings he shows us each day.
